Christians are being targeted in northern Nigeria. From 2006-2014, an estimated 9,000 to 11,500 Christians were killed. More than a million have been affected, with many driven from their homes. 13,000 churches have been attacked, destroyed or abandoned.

Many assume that there are no Christians in northern Nigeria, but over the last 150 years the Christian community there grew from virtually nothing to represent 31.2 per cent of the population. However, today, church attendance has more than halved in some of the most violent areas. In others, the Christian presence has been almost extinguished.

You can speak out for our northern Nigeria brothers and sisters today by writing to the Nigerian High Commission, urging them to raise this terrible state of affairs with the Nigerian government. Let’s call upon the Nigerian government to protect the rights of Christians in northern Nigeria, to end the current climate of impunity, and to bring the perpetrators of violence to justice.

Write to the High Commission today!

Below is a copy of the letter to send to the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner. Please do feel free to use this letter as it is. However, if you would like to edit it, we respectfully ask that you remain polite throughout and do not write anything disrespectful about other religions.

H.E. Mr. Adah Simon Ogah
